Cold commute?

Tuesday, 22 January

Just in case you thought your bike commute this morning was a wee bit chilly, I thought I'd share this image sent from a friend in Bend, who snapped the photo while riding his bike to work this morning. Check that fine print on the thermometer--and then stop feeling sorry for yourself!

Riding down Juanita this morning at 30mph in 24degrees. That's a wind chill of -11! Reminded me of riding in Chicago (the cold - not the hills).

Hey, I didn't even get to ride! How many wheels can we break in a week??
Hope I can get 500 miles in for january.

That's what backup bikes are for. I went over my rain bike yesterday to find my Bontrager rims totally shot. Cracks everywhere - even the valve stem! Some of the spokes had chunks of missing metal. Yikes.

So - today was the fixed gear (and therefore, only 30mph downhill - I can only spin so fast).

HEY! My "google word" is "Axleysv". Is the SV a new model to be released?

At first I thought, "whatever, 2 degrees," and then I realized it was in FAHRENHEIT.

If I spelled that right without checking, I get a gold star.
