Daunting

Wednesday, 15 October

It's a good thing I have to watch where I put my feet when I run stairs. If I kept my eyes on where I was going, I think it would be a little daunting/discouraging/demoralizing. On the stairs I run, you can't see the top from the bottom. This photo makes them look like something out of an Indiana Jones movie: covered with moss and leaves, and ivy vines creeping over everything. Hadn't noticed that in person! The view from the top is wonderful, and it's so quiet in this neighborhood that you can hear the wind blowing off the lake and rustling the trees--before you start breathing hard, that is!

Wait until you run those stairs in a good rain, with lots of water running down the stairs and the trees dripping heavily on your head...that'll test your motivation!

Anonymous,
It sounds like your motivation is what will be tested. Stoked has, and will have no problem with motivation.

I love those stairs, just a tad slippery on the way down in the rain. One of these days when I stop hobbling around I hope to see you out there if this is a lunch time activity.

Ah, "my" stairs lurk in obscurity in north Seattle, above the Burke Gilman before it crosses the city boundary. And yeah, they're great when the rain runs down them and the trees drip and soggy leaves pile up. The hand rail is there for a reason! There's one streetlight about 2/3 of the way up, but most of them are pretty dark in the depths of winter.

I only climb stairs if beer is involved.

Seems I need to slow down a little to find those since those are in my 'hood as well.

Wait, on purpose? Not just because you're running from the bogeything? Wow. I think I'd break my head.

At the very least, I think I need a helmet running those stairs more than I do on my bike...
